Dr. Jack Groppel To Continue as 2016 Spokesperson for the CEO Pledge for Physical Activity

WASHINGTON, January 26, 2016 - The National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity (NCPPA) announced that Jack Groppel, Ph.D., co-founder of the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, will continue to serve as the NCPPA national spokesperson for the CEO Pledge for Physical Activity. The CEO Pledge is a national campaign aimed at encouraging every CEO to recognize physical activity as an important driver of employee health and business performance. Dr. Groppel first signed on as the spokesperson back in 2013 and has remained in that position. His most recent appearance as the national spokesperson took place at the September 2015 launch of Step It Up! The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Promote Walking and Walkable Communities, where he spoke passionately about the importance of increasing walking and physical activity at the worksite.

"I'm honored to continue as the spokesperson for an organization that shares the same commitment to promote physical activity, health and well-being in the workplace", said Dr. Groppel.

Groppel has long been an active voice and industry leader in promoting movement and physical activity in the workplace He is the author of The Corporate Athlete, which explores human energy management as the key driver of high performance, both at work and at home. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Management at the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and continues to teach courses at the University, is a Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine, a Board-certified nutritionist in the American College of Nutrition, and a former Research Associate to the U.S. Olympic Training Center. "We are all inspired by Dr. Groppel's tremendous commitment to create a healthier, more active, and more energized world," said Tom Richards, President of NCPPA.  "And we are deeply honored by his passion for the NCPPA CEO Pledge for Physical Activity.
