Healthy People 2020
Healthy People is a program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that sets health objectives for the nation for a ten-year period. The current set of objectives, launched in December 2010, is referred to as Healthy People 2020 (hp2020).
The Department actively sought input from the public as well as the numerous non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the Nation's health. They developed a Healthy People Consortium (of which NCPPA is a member) that represents a diverse, motivated and dedicated group of agencies and organizations committed to working together to help achieve Healthy People 2020's health goals and objectives for the nation.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services requested public comments in late 2009 on the draft set of proposed objectives for HP2020. Individuals and organizations were invited to comment on the proposed objectives and topic areas and to suggest additional objectives and topic areas that they felt might be missing from the draft set. NCPPA sent out several notifications regarding the request for comments on the Physical Activity objectives as well as offering comments ourselves. Below you can find a few sets of comments including our own.
